A Yellowstone Road Trip

Driving:
The Logan Canyon Byway (Say you flew into SLC and needed a scenic route to Jackson and you could talk your husband into it. And don't miss the milkshakes in Garden City @ Bear Lake)
The 42 Mile Scenic Loop @ Grand Tetons. Don't miss a mile and then go do it again the next day.
Beartooth Highway "They say" this is one of the most gorgeous drives in the USA. Oh, "them". But it really is. I can't even joke about it. We hit a blizzard on June 28th and it was one of the (literally) coolest experiences ever. Then it rained. Then it snowed more. And then it was cloudy and then it was sunny and then we were in Yellowstone's Lamar Valley. If we'd died on the Beartooth Highway it would have been okay. It's really that amazing.

Hiking:
Trail Guide Yellowstone
Dirt in My Shoes Yellowstone Guide: I bought this and the guide to the Tetons. MOST of the information you can pick up from the website but the $$ itineraries are nicely organized, include maps and are well worth the moolah.
Dirt in My Shoes Grand Tetons Guide: Ditto everything above.
Teton Hiking Trails
Hiking to a waterfall near Bozeman

Lodging:
Townhouse in Jackson: Cleanest place we've ever stayed. Location is terrific. Views are wonderful. Beds are comfortable. Kitchen nicely equipped. Communications were great and given that this is a REALLY expensive part of the country, price was right.

Tiny people, giant geyser!
Explorer Cabins West Yellowstone: You can practically walk right to the park entrance. Of course, then you'd need to hike miles and miles to see anything. West Yellowstone is a hopping little place to stay. Groceries, restaurants, stuff to do, all walkable. I'm sure it's great to stay in the park, but a two bedroom place with a kitchen, a huge shower, and no crowds to contend with suited us just fine.

Cabin outside Livingston:  See Erik's Ranch for more information. The guesthouse on top of the mountain, away from everybody and everything....Oh. It was magic. Take food, and take a small fan (or two) and prepare to never want to leave EVER.
